Regarding the spinning of yarn, there are three types of worsted, semi-worsted and woollen. So, what is the difference between worsted, semi-worsted and woollen in wool spinning? The following are some theoretical knowledge summarized by Xiaobian for these three.
Carded wool spinning is a wool spinning process in which the net wool is opened, combed, divided into narrow strips and twisted, and then directly spun. Including mixing and oiling, carding, slitting and twisting into roving, and then drafting and twisting into oil yarn. The spun yarn has good fluffiness, soft hand feeling and low count, and is used for weaving woolen wool.
Worsted wool spinning is that after the washed wool is combed into sliver, it is combed and the preparation and finishing process before and after it is made into a worsted wool sliver, and then spun into yarn, which is worsted wool spinning. This process includes carding, sliver management, combing, whole and rewashing, sliver refining, roving, spinning and other processes. It is mainly divided into two stages: sliver making and spinning. Internationally, combed tops are a commodity, so companies that produce combed tops are often called tops factories.
Semi-worsted wool is similar to worsted wool, but not combed and its preparation and finishing. The technological process is: (washing wool) → mixing and oiling → carding → needle combing (3 passes) → roving → spun yarn. It has the characteristics of short process and low cost, but the yarn quality is slightly worse than that of combed yarn. It is suitable for spinning low-count (2-12 metric) yarn and medium-count (30-40 metric) yarn. Most of the products are hand-knitted yarns , knitting yarn, carpet yarn, industrial and decorative fabric yarn, etc., can also be used to weave general clothing materials.
