The front and back of wool fabrics are generally judged on the basis of their appearance. The following are some commonly used identification methods.

1. The pattern on the front of ordinary wool fabrics is clearer and more beautiful than the back.

2. Plants and color patterned wool fabrics with a striped appearance must have a clear and pleasing front pattern.

3. Convex and concave-convex wool fabrics, the front is tight and delicate, with strips or patterned embossing, while the back is rough and has long floating lines.

4. Raised wool fabric: single-sided raised wool fabric, the raised side of which is the front of the wool fabric. Double-sided fleece wool fabrics are bright with fluff, and the neat and uniform side is generally the front.

5. Check the edge of the wool fabric: if the edge of the fabric is bright, the neat side is the front of the wool fabric.

6. Double-layer, multi-layer and multi-layer wool fabrics, if the warp and weft densities of the front and back are different, the normal front has a larger density or the front material is relatively better.

7. Leno wool fabric: The prominent side of the warp with clear lines is the front of the wool fabric.

8. Towel wool fabric: The side with high loop density is the front.

Most wool fabrics have obvious differences between the front and back, but there are also many wool fabrics that are very similar in front and back, and can be used on both sides. Therefore, it is not necessary to distinguish the front and back of such wool fabrics.
